Pique dismisses transfer rumours

Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique has dismissed all rumours linking him to a move back to Manchester United and insists that he would like to end his career with the Catalan club.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Spanish international was a part of Barcelona’s youth academy before he joined the Red Devils as a teenager in 2004. He made his Premier League debut in 2006, and made 28 appearances for the English club. The player also spent a year on a season long loan to Real Zaragoza during his time at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old returned to his boyhood club in 2008, and has since then made 167 league appearances for the La Liga side. He signed a contract extension in May this year that will keep him at Camp Nou till 2019.

But due to the lack of playing time under new manager Luis Enrique, it was recently suggested that Pique might be looking for a move away from Spain, but the defender has clearly stated otherwise.

“I love this club for its history, for its style of play and for the Catalan identity”, he told Four Four Two in an interview.

“It is one of the best clubs in the world, I always dreamed of playing here and I'm not going to go away.

“I will finish my contract and I would like to finish my career at Barca”, the 61-times internationally capped player added.
