13 October 2014 - 23:19

Liverpool are understood to be keen on landing the services of Belenenses youngster Fabio Sturgeon when the reopens in January.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is known for playing his youngsters at the big stage, having already offered first-team opportunities to the likes of Raheem Sterling, Suso and Jordan Rossiter this season.

Sturgeon, who made five appearances for the Portuguese Under-20 side, is understood to have attracted interest from a host of top clubs from Europe.

According to The Mirror, the Merseyside giants are considered front-runners to seal the player's signature, and are preparing to make their move in the winter transfer window.

Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League table.
