Man Utd plot move for World Cup winner

29 October 2014 - 12:08

Manchester United are planning a move for Schalke 04 defender Benedikt Howedes in the January transfer window, Goal.com reports.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game

  • The talented defender played in all seven games for Germany as they were crowned World champions in Brazil over the summer.

According to Goal.com, United boss Louis van Gaal has sent scouts to watch Howedes in action, as he believes that the player's versatility of playing at either left-back or central defence could be of a benefit at Old Trafford.

The report adds that the Mancunian giants will make a tempting offer in the region of £14m for the 26-year-old when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
