Midfielder Nigel de Jong is hopeful of signing a contract extension with AC Milan

Nigel de Jong hoping for a contract renewal

05 November 2014 - 14:56

AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong has said that he is open to the idea of signing a contract extension with the Rossoneri, before he becomes a free agent in 2015.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • The Dutch international’s current contract with the Italian club will run out next summer, and the 29-year-old is keen on sitting down with the club officials to hash out the details for a new one.

“My contract is a question for (Adriano) Galliani”, the former Ajax player was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“I’m happy here in Milan. I don’t see any problems for a renewal. Let’s hope we still have time.”

De Jong has made 53 league appearances for the Serie A club since joining the side from Manchester City in 2012.

He was heavily linked with English giants Manchester United last summer, as boss Louis van Gaal, who has previously managed the player with the Dutch national side, was looking to be reunited with him at Old Trafford.

However with the deal failing to come through, and another one highly unlikely, the one-time Premier League winner is hopeful of locking his future down with the San Siro outfit.
