QPR to bid for Defoe in January

Harry Redknapp insists QPR will try to rope in Jermain Defoe from Toronto FC in January

QPR to bid for Defoe in January

06 November 2014 - 17:54

Queen Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has said that the English club might once again try to rope in striker Jermain Defoe from Toronto FC in January.

  • Chelsea consider £39m deal for Lens midfielder
  • Chelsea ready to battle Arsenal for Brentford star?
  • The English footballer joined the Major League Soccer side in winter this year form Tottenham Hotspur and has made 19 appearances since then, scoring on 11 occasions.

He was rumoured to be set for a return to the Premier League in August this year as Redknapp, who has already worked with the 32-year-old at Portsmouth and Tottenham, was keen on signing the player in the summer transfer window.

But with that deal failing to come through, the English manager is now hoping to be reunited with Defoe at the Loftus Road Stadium in the New Year.

“He is a player I am sure we would be interested in, in January”, the 67-year-old was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“It depends on the expense of it all and what the deal is. Tony would deal with that, so it’s up to him.”

The Hoops are currently 19th in the points table, and Defoe’s arrival could provide the much needed boost up front.
