Sturridge out until January

Liverpool star suffers injury setback

22 November 2014 - 02:23

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that star striker Daniel Sturridge will be out until the New Year having suffered yet another injury blow.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The England international has failed to feature for the Reds since August due to calf and thigh problems.

Sturridge picked up yet another thigh injury this week, and this is likely to keep him out of competitive football until January.

Rodgers has admitted that the striker is at a new low point mentally having been denied the chance to return to first-team football.

"Daniel Sturridge has just been extremely unfortunate," Rodgers said.

"He's a player who doesn't want to be out for this length of time. He wants to play football.

"He wants that more than anyone. I spoke to him today at length and he's as down as I've ever seen him. He'll go away in the New Year and hopefully find the answers to help him perform at Liverpool."
