Manchester United will reportedly fight it out with Chelsea for the services of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane in the January transfer window.
The France international has been linked with a switch to the Premier League with the Blues keen on signing him up in the New Year.
However, Spanish publication Marca claims that the Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen on signing up a top-class defender this winter, and will make a move for the 21-year-old.
United are currently fourth in the Premier League standings.
