Capello to get England job

13 December 2007 - 17:46

Fabio Capello looks set to become the new England manager. The FA have held talks with the Italian yesterday which have gone "very well", and the former Real Madrid boss thrashed out the final details of a lucrative contract and to outline his vision for the future.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • No time has as yet been given for when Capello will step into the hotseat, however it is expected that sometime soon the FA will confirm his arrival to replace Steve McClaren.

"I can confirm that Brian Barwick and Sir Trevor Brooking have held talks with Fabio Capello in London," said FA director of communications Adrian Bevington.

"I am pleased to say that these discussions were extremely positive and without any problems.

"Fabio has tonight returned to Italy to honour a prior commitment.

"Understandably, further talks are now taking place between Fabio's advisors and ourselves."
