Newcastle United are reportedly readying a shock emergency loan move for Chelsea’s veteran shot-stopper Mark Schwarzer, according to The Star.
The news comes about following injuries to the club's first-choice keepers in Tim Krul and Rob Elliot.
The Star reports that manager Alan Pardew is keen on signing up the former Fulham star on a short-term loan move, considering the fact that the club will be with neither Krul nor Elliot until mid-January.
Jak Alnwick remains the club's only recognizable keeper, and an injury to the 21-year-old could well worsen the crisis at the Tyneside outfit.
The Magpies lie in seventh place in the Premier League.
