German international Marco Marin could return to Stamford Bridge following an unsuccessful loan spell at Fiorentina.

The 25-year-old joined the Blues from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2012, and has since failed to cement his place as a squad player.

Marin struggled to make any impact with Sevilla last season, but was rewarded with a loan move to the Serie A with Fiorentina over the summer.

According to Gazetta dello Sport, Marin will return to the West London outfit having failed to start a single league game for the Italian side this season.

Marin is likely to be sent on loan to a new club in the winter transfer window as he does not feature in the plans of manager Jose Mourinho.
