Leicester City are understood to be preparing a January bid for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert, according to The Mail.

The 32-year-old joined the Reds from Southampton over the summer, and has  since then scored just two goals in 20 games for the club.

The England international is said to be happy in spite of the lack of first-team football, but The Mail claims that the Foxes will try to lure the talented forward to the club in the New Year with the offer of being a guaranteed starter.

Liverpool host Swansea City in the Premier League on Monday night.
