Everton are preparing a surprise loan move for Aston Villa midfielder Charles N'Zogbia, according to The People.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez worked alongside the 28-year-old during his managerial reign at Wigan Athletic.

The report claims that Martinez is eager to secure the services of the French international on a temporary basis as he aims to bolster the club's midfield setup.

N'Zogbia has fallen out-of-favour at the Villans, with manager Paul Lambert preferring the likes of Carles Gil and Fabian Delph ahead of him in the pecking order.
