Arsenal have been linked with a shock bid for Benfica defensive midfielder Andreas Samaris. The Greek international joined the Portuguese Liga's table topping club from Olympiacos last summer.
Reports suggest that the Gunners have made an enquiry for Samaris at the very last minute of the January transfer window.
Since moving from his home country of Greece, Samaris has proved an indispensable member of Benfica's squad and many top European sides have been watching his progress closely. One of those teams is Arsenal, who have been scouring Europe for a top defensive midfielder for some time.
The 25-year-old is reportedly valued at around 27 million euros by his club and has a release clause set at 45 million euros.
The 6 foot 3 star has previously hinted that he would one day like to play in England's Premier League and Arsenal could triple of his salary if he decided to make the move abroad.
