Manchester United are readying a club-record bid to re-sign former star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a Spanish source.

Ronaldo has been in excellent form for the European champions this season, and has scored 41 goals in all competitions this now.

According to Fichajes.net, United have contacted agent Jorge Mendes regarding a possible £71m bid to sign the 30-year-old.

The report adds that the Ballon d'Or could be open to the move, having achieved almost everything in European football at the Bernabeu.
