Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson has reportedly handed over a transfer request, Metro reports.
The Uruguayan international has been long linked with a switch to the Premier League, with the Gunners keen on securing his services.
According to Metro, the Gunners could be closing in on the signature of Cavani, having seen the former Napoli man hand over a request to exit Les Parisiens in the summer.
Cavani has been forced to play in a wider role in recent seasons, with manager Laurent Blanc favouring Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of him for the centre-forward role.
