Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar has not yet signed a contract extension, in spite of his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
The Netherlands international was in top form for the national side during the World Cup finals in Brazil last summer, and many expected him to continue with his form at club level.
However, a series of injuries have hampered his season, and now finds himself seeking to sign a new deal at Villa Park.
According to The People, Vlaar has been impressed by the club's revival under Tim Sherwood, and is now willing to commit his future on a long-term basis to the Midlands outfit.
