Arsenal are understood to have made a summer offer for Espanyol defender Hector Moreno, according to reports.

The Mexican international has put up a string of impressive performances for the La Liga outfit ever since recovering a broken leg suffered during the World Cup finals in Brazil last year.

Reports in Mexico claim that the Gunners have made £7.1m for the talented central defender, with Arsene Wenger mindful of the fact that the club needs to do some strengthening at the back for next season.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also understood to be interested in Moreno.
