Southampton have successfully completed the signing of defender Cedric Soares from Sporting Lisbon on a four-year deal.
The talented right-back who has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, was close to sealing a switch to the Saints having already agreed personal terms.
It has now been confirmed that the 23-year-old has joined the Saints for a reported fee of around £3.6m.
"I joined this club because I believe we can do better and better every year," Soares told the club's official website.
"Everyone knows that the Premier League is a very, very good league - and maybe the best one in the world - so for me it's a pleasure to be here."
Soares becomes the Saints' second summer signing following the capture of striker Juanmi from Malaga.
