Liverpool drop more points

Liverpool drop more points

30 December 2007 - 18:16

Liverpool's Premiership challenge grinded to yet another halt as they dropped more points against Man City at Eastlands on Sunday. Man City threw in a sterling defensive display to keep Liverpool at bay and Richard Dunne made two winning tackles to keep City in the game.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The game could've been one of the most dull of this Premiership season, and the fans groaned for much of this tie as nobody would put the boot in.

Jose Reina had little to do as City rarely threatened on their way to an 11th home league game without defeat.

Harry Kewell had Liverpool's best opportunity, but Hart got down to smother the winger's angled drive at the second attempt after 26 mins.

Fernando Torres had two fantastic opportunities to score just after half time but fluffed both of them.

It took until the last 10 minutes before Liverpool breathed some life into their game, but Richard Dunne made two crucial interventions to keep the game at a scoreless draw.

Dunne prevented Torres from reaching the goal with a superb tackle, and then the defender made himself big again towards the end as he blocked Yossi Benayoun's goalbound finish on the line.
