The Portugal international has been long linked with a move to the Emirates, and it has been speculated that the Gunners could renew the player's pursuit during the current transfer window.

However, reports in Spain now suggest that the Gunners could face a transfer tussle with Los Blancos also interested in landing the player's signature this summer.

Carvalho was awarded the player of the tournament award during the recently concluded European Under-21 Championships in the Czech Republic.
