Placente to Wigan back on?

30 December 2007 - 23:55

As reported back in August by eyefootball.com, Diego Placente could be set for a switch to the Premiership with Wigan in January. Steve Bruce is looking for reinforcements and Placente is ready for a move to the Premiership.

  • Gary Neville breaks silence on Ruben Amorim
  • Confirmed Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Brentford, Estevao absent

  • The Argentinian left back current plies his trade at Celta Vigo, but is very highly regarded by Wigan.

Placente has been linked with a move back to Argentina, but the left back told TyC Sports: "For the moment I am only thinking of the chance of staying in Europe and playing there. I still don't want to return to Argentina.

"Maybe in one or two years I will change my mind about staying definitely in my country.

"I am very thankful to River Plate and San Lorenzo who have thought about me and phoned me but I am analyzing an offer from an English team.

"For the moment I can't say too much but if I have the chance of moving to England it will be a very positive thing for my career.

"When I decide to return to Argentina it would only be to play either for River or Argentinos Juniors so I am thankful also to Boca who have given me a phone call but I could never play in that team as I respect River Plate a lot."
