Jordan Henderson set to be named Liverpool captain

10 July 2015 - 05:40

England international Jordan Henderson looks set to be named Liverpool's new captain following Stevan Gerrard's departure from the club.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Henderson was given the leadership duties last season, with Gerrard mainly featuring from the substitutes' bench for much of the second half of last season due to injury and the lack of fitness.

The former Black Cats will earn the permanent captain role at the Merseyside following Gerrard's exit after 12 years as the Reds skipper.

Henderson joined the Reds from Sunderland in 2011, and has since then 186 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
