Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that German international Bastian Schweinsteiger will make his way to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
It had been recently reported that the World Cup winner had agreed contract terms with the Mancunian giants and a transfer could be finalized in the upcoming days.
Rummenigge has now confirmed that the 30-year-old has decided to join the Red Devils as he seeks a fresh challenge in his career.
"We tried to convince him to stay with Bayern Munich," said Rummenigge. "But I also understand that a player who has been at Bayern for 17 years, at the end of his career still wants to gain a new experience." he said in a press conference.
United are expected to pay a fee in the region of £14m for the German sensation.
