West Ham United winger Steward Downing could be on his way to former club Middlesbrough, according to reports.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a switch back to his hometown club, despite Aitor Karanka citing that it would be a tough task to lure the talented forward back to the Championship.
However, talkSPORT claims that Downing is inching towards the move, having seen both club settle on a £5m for his transfer.
Downing made 234 appearances for the Riverside outfit between 2001 and 2009.
