Manchester United are no longer interested in a move for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi, according to reports.

It had been reported earlier that the Argentine international could be heading to the Premier League with either Manchester United or Manchester City.

However, ESPN cites that United have given up on the player's pursuit as they are not willing to match Los Che's asking price of &pound35m for the central defender.

This is likely to pave the way for arch rivals City to snap up Otamendi's signature before the transfer deadline.

Otamendi recently joining his Valencia teammates for training following his exertions at the Copa America earlier this summer.
