Premier League newcomers Norwich City are understood to have made an audacious bid to sign AS Roma striker Matteo Destro.

The Italian international has fallen down the pecking order at the Capital outfit, following the arrival of Edin Dzeko from Manchester City on a season-long loan.

It is thought that the Serie A side would be open to the player's sale, having loaned him to AC Milan during the second half of last season.

According to The Mail, the Canaries have made £4.5m for the talented frontman.

Destro has scored 29 goals in 68 games for Roma since his switch from Siena in 2012.
