Arsenal have reportedly been watching the progress of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.

The German international has been long linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal keen on his services.

According to The People, the Gunners had sent scouts to watch the midfielder in action during his side's 1-0 loss at Lazio in the Champions League play-offs.

It is added that the North London giants are planning a bid of around &pound18m to land the player's signature before the transfer deadline.
