The Gunners have been heavily tipped to seal a deal for France international Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.

However, the Gunners\' hierarchy are unwilling to match Real\'s asking price of &pound50m for their long-term target, and this has put the deal at a dead end.

According to The Mail, the FA Cup holders will look to push through a &pound35m deal for Paris Saint-Germain\'s Edinson Cavani before the transfer deadline.

It is added that Cavani woul favour a move to the Emirates, having been forced to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the centre-forward role at Les Parisiens.
