Arsenal look set to make a move for a new striker in the transfer window, according to reports.
The Gunners have been heavily tipped to seal a deal for France international Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.
However, the Gunners' hierarchy are unwilling to match Real's asking price of £50m for their long-term target, and this has put the deal at a dead end.
According to The Mail, the FA Cup holders will look to push through a £35m deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani before the transfer deadline.
It is added that Cavani woul favour a move to the Emirates, having been forced to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the centre-forward role at Les Parisiens.
