The talented playmaker joined the La Liga giants from Real Sociedad in 2013, and has since then been in and out of the first-team.

Spanish sources now claim that Blues boss Jose Mourinho has urged the club's hierarchy to push through a deal for the Spain international before next week's transfer deadline.

It is added that Real would be willing to part with the midfielder for a fee in the region of &pound35m.
