Danijel Subotic to Portsmouth

07 January 2008 - 21:56

Portsmouth have made their first signing of the January transfer window as they swooped for Swiss striker Danijel Subotic from Basel for an undisclosed fee. Portsmouth have been hit hard with several players leaving for the African Cup of Nations.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Harry Redknapp said of the signing: "He was recommended to us so we brought him over for a few days' training and he did well," Redknapp told the club's official website.

"We've taken a gamble on him and hopefully he's one for the future.

"We'll just have to see how he goes."

Subotic joins from Basel after the losses of John Utaka, Kanu, Sulley Muntari and Papa Bouba Diop.
