Cisse to replace Anelka?

Cisse to replace Anelka?

07 January 2008 - 22:48

Djibril Cisse is understood to be close to a return to the Premiership as Bolton are considering a swoop for the Marseille striker. Nicolas Anelka has been linked with a move to Chelsea, and Cisse has been mooted as a potential replacement. Blackburn are also ready to make an offer.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Cisse has had a very disappointing season with Ligue 1 side Marsille but was a proven goalscorer in the Premiership in his time with Liverpool.

Cisse is also wanted by Blackburn - not just Bolton - and a fee of £8 million could persuade Marseille to sell.

Anelka's transfer to Chelsea is expected to go through eventually despite Bolton rejected the Blues' last offer for the Frenchman.
