Spain international David de Gea has committed his future to Manchester United by signing a new four-year contract.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The 24-year-old failed to earn his dream move to Real Madrid before the Spanish transfer deadline due to late submission of paperwork.

However, De Gea is understood to have come over the situation and decided to play for the Red Devils.

It has now been confirmed that the star shot-stopper has inked a new four-year deal with the Mancunian giants just ten days after the long transfer saga.

"I am delighted to be starting this new chapter in my United career. I have always enjoyed playing with these great players in front of our fantastic fans," he told the club's official website.

"Manchester United is a special club and Old Trafford is an ideal place for me to continue to develop my career. I'm looking forward to putting a difficult summer behind me and concentrating on working hard to improve and help my teammates to be successful."

De Gea is expected to make his first league start for United against rivals Liverpool in Saturday's derby.
