Alves rejects AZ move

Despite rumours that Heerenveen striker Afonso Alves is looking for a move away from his club to AZ Alkmaar, Afonso Alves has stressed he is looking to stay at Heerenveen despite AZ complaining to the Dutch FA.

“It is certainly true that we’re not signing the transfer form meant for the KNVB as AZ would want us to,” Kuiper told the Dutch Press Agency (ANP), insisting though that it is his club’s right not to.



“Alves and his representatives have let us know that Afonso doesn’t want to join AZ. He has rejected their offer,” stressed Kuiper. “We indeed signed a transfer agreement with them on December 30, including a number of conditions. According to one of them, AZ and Afonso should send us their signed agreement until January 5, in order for us to suspend his contract."
