German international Lars Bender has been long linked with a switch to the Emirates.

Recent reports have claimed that the North London giants could swoop for the player's services in the winter following a long-term injury to Francis Coquelin.

However, the Bayer Leverkusen skipper is said to have undergone an ankle injury which is likely to keep him out until the New Year at the least.

Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt has recently revealed that the midfield enforcer could have a longer layoff in the quest to overcome his ongoing injury problems.
