Manchester United have received a big blow to their transfer plans for the New Year, according to reports.
The Red Devils had been tipped to lodge a £50m bid for Everton defender John Stones, who has been in top form in the league this season.
However, The Mail cites that the England international is set to show his commitment to the Toffees, and reject any kind of move during the winter transfer window.
The news is likely to heap more pressure on manager Louis van Gaal, who is said to be desperate to land a top centre-back in January.
League rivals Chelsea have also been credited with interest for the 22-year-old defender.
