Marseille are apparently leading the chase to land unsettled Liverpool target Mario Suarez from Fiorentina.

The former Atletico Madrid star has failed to adapt to the Serie A style of play, and has been tipped to seek a fresh challenge in the New Year.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Ligue 1 side are heading the queue to land the player's services.

It is added that La Viola would listen to offers of around &pound3.7m, but have so far only received loan proposals for the Spain international.

Suarez has made just four league starts for his club this season.
