Marseille step up Mario Suarez chase

Marseille are apparently leading the chase to land unsettled Liverpool target Mario Suarez from Fiorentina.

The former Atletico Madrid star has failed to adapt to the Serie A style of play, and has been tipped to seek a fresh challenge in the New Year.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Ligue 1 side are heading the queue to land the player's services.

It is added that La Viola would listen to offers of around £3.7m, but have so far only received loan proposals for the Spain international.

Suarez has made just four league starts for his club this season.
