The Senegalese international had been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, but a deal never materialized.

Since then, the Red Devils have been closely monitoring the player's showing with a view to a winter offer for his services.

According to The Mirror, the Mancunian giants are unlikely to land their top target in January after the Saints ruled out the possibility of offloading Mane in the current transfer window.

Mane joined the Saints from Red Bull Salzburg last year.
