Sunderland swoop for Gordon

Sunderland swoop for Gordon

08 August 2007 - 20:39

Sunderland have landed Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon in a record £9 million deal. The Scottish international goalkeeper had been linked with a host of Premiership sides this summer but Sunderland have won the players signature at the 2nd attempt.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The amount paid is the highest ever fee paid for a goalkeeper in England and is the club record for Sunderland who had paid £7.6m for Tore Andre Flo 5 years ago.

Gordon had been set to sign for Aston Villa, but it appears as if Sunderland have managed to complete a very commendable swoop.
