Arsenal's in-form French midfielder Mathieu Flamini is in talks with the club regarding a new deal, and coach Arsene Wenger believes that he will sign a new deal, despite interest from several Serie A sides.

  • Wenger has admitted talks are ongoing with the French defender, but is sure the Frenchman will sign a new deal.

"Mathieu is free to talk (to other clubs) but the talks with Arsenal are ongoing," Wenger told the club's official website.

"I am hopeful on it and I am not concerned."

Juventus were linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old earlier this month who is believed to be after a £45,000 a week contract.
