Manchester City look set to beat Liverpool to the signature of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The German international has featured mostly in the Cup and European games since his move from Borussia Monchengladbach last term.

However, The Telegraph understands that City are set to beat their league rivals to the talented shot-stopper, who is eager to link up with Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola is set to replace Manuel Pellegrini as City manager at the end of the current campaign.

Barca currently value Ter Stegen at around &pound20m.
