Watford captain Troy Deeney has emerged as a top target for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of this summer's transfer window. The 27-year-old played a key role in the club's promotion to the top tier of English football.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to have switched his focus to Deeney despite being linked with a wholesale of strikers, The Sun reports.

It is also thought that the player is open to featuring in the Champions League, and this could end his long-term association at Vicarage Road.

Deeney, 27, is said to be unsettled at the Hornets following the departure of manager Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of last season.
