Liverpool fail with Islam Slimani bid

14 June 2016 - 13:06

Liverpool have failed with summer approach for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani. The Algerian has caught the eye of top Premier League clubs following an impressive season that saw him net 32 goals in all competitions.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • According to Portuguese source Noticias ao Minuto, the Reds had tabled a £20m offer for the 27-year-old which was swiftly rebuffed by the Primeira Liga outfit.

It is added that Sporting are holding out for the player's £24m release clause that is due to expire at the end of June.

League rivals Arsenal, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the running to land the talented marksman.
