Chelsea are reported to have discussed terms with outgoing Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda. The Frenchman is set to end his nine-year association with Les Phoceens when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Mandanda, 31, has earlier expressed his desire to make a move to the Premier League amid interest from likes of Everton and Crystal Palace.
According to The Guardian, the Blues have made contact with the France international as they look to bring in a capable shot-stopper, who could play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.
The deal is likely to see the departure of Asmir Begovic over the summer. The Bosnian was frustrated at being dropped for the FA Cup duties after Thibaut Courtois returned to full fitness.
Begovic is said to favour a stay in the English capital with Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace keeping a close eye on his situation.
