Arsenal are poised to make a move to sign Stevan Jovetic from Internazionale, according to reports in Italy.
Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset claim that Arsenal are weighing up a move to sign former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic, as their deal to sign Jamie Vardy appears on the brink of collapse.
The Gunners had triggered the buyout clause in Vardy's contract with a bid of £20 million earlier this month, in what was seen as a shock swoop for the former Fleetwood Town striker.
But Vardy, 29, who is currently on international duty with England at the UEFA European Championship, is now believed to be leaning towards shunning Arsenal's advances, in favour of remaining with Premier League champions Leicester City.
So with the potential of being knocked back by Vardy, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is being forced to consider alternative targets, as he looks to boost his attacking options ahead of next season.
Jovetic spent last season on loan at the San Siro from City, but a stipulation in the loan agreement between the two clubs means that the Italians are now obligated to sign the Montenegrin on a permanent deal for the pre-agreed fee of £11.5 million.
After a disappointing season, in which the former Fiorentina striker managed only seven goals, Inter are looking to move Jovetic on, and would be willing to do so if they receive a bid that matches the figure they paid for the player.
