With Real Madrid likely to exercise their buy-back option on Alvaro Morata, Juventus are considering a move for Marseille's Michy Batshuayi to fill the void left by the Spaniard, according to reports in Italy.
Giuseppe Marotta, the Juve general manager, confirmed on Tuesday (21 June) that Real Madrid will be taking up their €30 million buy-back option on Morata.
The clause was written into the deal which took the Spanish striker to Turin two seasons ago, ensuring that Juve would make a profit but also providing contingency for the 11-time European champions should they decide that Morata is a player they want at the club after all.
The downside for the Old Lady is that, with a host of top clubs searching for a high-class striker this summer, and with a lack of available top-drawer marksmen on the continent, Morata's true market value is some way above the €30 million they will receive.
It is also believed that Madrid will re-sign Morata only to then sell him on for €50 million-plus to the Premier League.
But rather than lick their wounds, Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset are reporting that the Bianconeri will move for Marseille's Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi to replace Morata.
Batshuayi, 22, scored 24 goals for l'OM last season and is thought to be available for around €40 million.
