Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with a summer swoop for Mario Gotze. The German international had a poor season at Bayern Munich last term, and this has led to suggestions he could be offloaded in the current transfer window.

German daily Bild says Spurs have made contact with Bayern regarding a potential move for the player's signature this summer. 

Borussia Dortmund were earlier in the running to sign the World Cup winner before the club's hierarchy cooled their interest.

The 24-year-old had a rather frustrating time at the European championships as Germany lost to hosts France by a 2-0 scoreline in the semi-finals.

Gotze appeared in just 21 games for the Bavarian giants last season, netting six goals in the proces.
