Manager Mark Hughes is hopeful of keeping Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic at Stoke City for the summer. The 27-year-old was the stand-out performer for the Potters during the previous campaign.

  • Arnautovic currently has a year left on his existing contract, and talks over an extension seem to have stalled for now.

"We are where we were with Marko, but we remain very hopeful of being able to keep him here," Hughes told the club's official website.

The striker enjoyed his best season in the Premier League last term as he netted 11 goals in 34 outings for his side. He had most recently attracted from Paris Saint-Germain during the winter transfer window.

Arnautovic has appeared over 100 games for Stoke City since his move from Werder Bremen in 2013.
