Everton have reportedly triggered the release clause of Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye. The Senegal international joined the Villains from Lille in 2015.
The 26-year-old had a decent season for the West Midlands side last term, but this was not enough to secure their Premier League status.
Widespread sources reveal that the Toffees have activated the player's £7.2m escape clause, and the deal will go through once the necessary formalities are completed.
Gueye was one of the regulars for the Villains in a season which saw several players being axed for their dismal showing. He appeared in 35 outings for his side as they were relegated for the first time in the Premier League era.
The midfielder has earned 32 caps with his national team till date.
