West Ham United are prepared to lodge a formal offer for Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez. The German international netted 28 goals during his loan spell with Besiktas last season.
It was reported last month that La Viola would settle on a £6m fee for sale of their player.
According to The Mirror, Slaven Bilic will launch a bid for the experienced marksman after the Hammers failed in their attempts to strengthen their front line.
The East London outfit have had a tough time in the transfer window with the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Bacca having snubbed moves to the Olympic Stadium.
Meanwhile, they could face competition from London rivals Arsenal, who are thought to be keeping tabs on Gomez's situation.
Gomez was a key player for Germany at Euro 2016 before he suffered a hamstring injury prior to their defeat to France in the semi-finals.
